Ramadan is a month long fasting and prayer done by our Muslim brothers worldwide. And this year's event is ending on September 20th 2009, the last day of Ramadan 2009 is popularly known as Eid Ul Fitr 2009. Ever wondered if Muslims celebrate Christmas, well, obviously they do not. But we may say that Eid Ul Fitr, the last day of Ramadan, is their Christmas day. Why? During Eid Ul Fitr, many Muslims celebrate the end of their long fasting with festivities, sharing food and money with their fellow Muslims. Eid Ul Fitr is very special for children who are given gifts and money during the celebration.
Eid Ul Fitr 2009 celebrations may vary across countries, regions and culture. Here in the Philippines, September 21st, Monday, has been declared as a non working holiday so Muslims and Christians alike may spend a long weekend with their families and loved ones.
