Early in the VMAs, Taylor Swift bested Beyonce for the category of Best Female Music Video, which prompted Kanye West to interrupt Taylor Swift during her speech. Then at the closing moments of the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Beyonce was ultimately awarded the Video of the Year award for her hit single, "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)". Beyonce was supposed to have her speech but instead, she gave the microphone to young Taylor Swift, something the fans at the Radio City cheered about.
Beyonce, "Thank you. I remember being 17-years-old, up for my first MTV Award with Destiny’s Child and it was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So I’d like Taylor [Swift] to come out and have her moment"
Taylor Swift, "I’d like to thank all the fans on Twitter and MySpace and everyone who came out to my shows this summer. Thank you so much!"
Kanye West may have ruined Taylor Swift's moment at the VMAs. But at the end of the night, both Beyonce and Taylor Swift surely earned more fans, and Kanye lost a bunch of his.
