* they lose to Honduras AND El Salvador loses to Costa Rica AND Trinidad and Tobago loses to United States.

Honduras will ensure at worst the CONMEBOL/CONCACAF play-off if:

* they defeat Mexico OR
* they do not defeat Mexico AND El Salvador do not defeat Costa Rica AND Trinidad and Tobago do not defeat United States.
