Last night, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez brought their respective boxing skills and arsenals in a much awaited bout between US' Number 1 and Mexico's Numero Uno. Mayweather was out to prove something, he needs to win this bout impressively to lure Manny Pacquiao into fighting him next year, on what many believe will be the Fight of the Year. On the other hand, Juan Manuel Marquez wants to get revenge on a stolen victory that Pacquiao had in their last meeting. It was a split decision, but a controversial one. In the end, Floyd Mayweather Jr. stood tall above Juan Manuel Marquez, beating the Mexican via unanimous decision. Marquez fans, who are celebrating the Mexican Independence Day, showered Mayweather's win with boos. But Mayweather still was able prove that his back, and looks to fight Manny Pacquiao for the Best Pound for Pound title.
Is this win enough for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to lure Manny Pacquiao into a match before Pacquiao's nearing retirement? I can also say one thing to Mayweather, "Be careful what you wish for, or you might regret it". Currently, Mayweather still has an undefeated boxing record, but for how long? If he insists in fighting Pacquiao, he might end up like Pacman's previous foes, "Down to the Mat!".
