Chula Vista won the recently concluded Little World Series 2009 as it bested Taiwan in the championship game. This win by Chula Vista, upsets Taiwan from claiming its 18th championship, and their first since 1996. It is also the fifth straight year a US-based team has won the tournament. The last team outside US to win was Willemstad, Curacao last 2004. The final score of the Chula Vista-Taiwan championship game was 6-3. Chula Vista’s Park View Little League, which is located south of San Diego, is the first team from California to win the championship for 11- and 12-year-olds since Long Beach captured back-to-back titles in 1992-93.

Congratulations to the young and talented guys of Chula Vista! A well-deserved win for a team who worked hard for it.
